I searched around google cause I was interested in knowing what type of fighting style/martial arts the navy seals learn. And I was surprised when i got answers like everything from kick boxing to Filipino weapons training. So I was hoping someone else could clear it up
The Navy SEALS learn learn and empty hand fighting system known as close quarters combatives. A variety of different fighting systems including JKD and Brazilian jujutsu are included in the SEALS combatives.

You see, i’m tired of reading karate books and surfing the net, it seems that I really wanted to be in a real dojo and I want to feel what it’s like to be in sparring match, competitions or tournaments.
AAK (Association for the Advancement of Karatedo). Best one there is.

Chest? Biceps? You name it! Which have helped you the most?
Can you name any muscles that you don’t use for martial arts training? If I’m not mistaken there are something like 600 muscles in the human body. You seem to have the mistaken idea that developing strength will compensate for a lack of skills. Skills and technique are always more important than strength. The martial arts were developed so that they do not require strength to beat an attacker that may very well be stronger, bigger, … Anyone that thinks that strength is a very important factor in traditional martial arts simply does not get the whole concept of martial arts.

I will be starting martial arts after the Christmas break, and i was just wondering if there was anything i could do at home to start training myself? I’ve been stretching for 30 minutes every night, and lifting for an hour at school. What else can i do?
sounds good….the only other thing that i would include is some cardio work outs. and as far as lifting, do it for building lean muscle and toning, not for bulking up. and you really dont have to stretch so much. as for not being so intense…..it really depends on what style you’re taking and how it’s being taught. unless the 1st guy is a super athlete, i wouldnt go to a martial art school that wasnt intense.

I strongly believe they should, especially if they want to be police officers, security guards, bodyguards, etc. A lot of people believe that for women, martial arts are nothing more than a thing political correctness, and brute strength and being over 6 ft. is everything, and they’re taught their only defense is a man like her father, Marine boyfriend, whatever. Many women are also taught to believe they should stay away from what is considered men’s activities like martial arts. I totally disagree with that traditional way of thinking, although it still very much exists. Martial arts aren’t just about the ability to fight, but also learning self confidence. Most arts aren’t so much about having big ripped muscles, it’s more about inner strength, fighting skill, and spirit and resolve. A girl being a great fighter and protector takes much more than strength and pain, in fact even more so than a man.
True strength comes from within.
Yes i think they should but MAs arent for everyone. I have 3 neices and i want them to learn MAs but its up to them to want to learn it.
