Don’t you think it would be a funny cartoon question mark or a book or something that relates to questions and answers?

The legend of the hamster; the real story:

The one-time leader of the Yahoo!Answers development team used to call the group to meetings by turning on an electric toy hamster he had on his desk. Because of this, taking the two letters from Y!A and combining them with hamster, the Y!AT (Yahoo Answers Team) became known as the Yamsters. They used to use an image of the actual toy hamster as their mascot, but because of possible trademark infringement, they had to draw a cartoon one. He is the one now seen on the blog.

Hi, I thought it would be a good idea to get exercise on the weekends doing martial arts besides working with a trainer at the gym and gain better self discipline as well. Would you recommend karate? There’s a karate place nearby that also teaches jujitsu and some other forms. What would you recommend?

If you got the muscle, you’re going to want to pick a style based off force, as opposed to speed – I’d go with Judo or Juijitsu, or if you want a more practical approach, try kajukenbo if you can find it in your area. It’s pretty awesome. I might also want to look into Krav maga, or if you’re more in it for the exercise and/or sport, go for martial arts that have tournaments, (Karate, Taekwandoe, MMA)

-Hope I helped

An exercise that is fun and easy to do. As far as I can tell this exercise was first used by the shaolin monks for developing “Fa Jing” or striking power. This is not a difficult exercise. This video is in not demonstrational, it is purely instructional. For a more difficult set of candle punching exercises please see my Advanced candle punches video.

A couple of “donts” that I forgot to add into the video is…

- Never practice with long sleaves. (Possibility of them catching light, but it also makes the excercise extremely easy.)
- Dont practicing with the candle close against the wall because it makes the excerise easier. (Your just cheating yourself.)

If you have any questions feel free to email me through youtube and I will try my best to help.

i have tried. i started off with tae kwon do and have been practising it for about 10 years. Then i tried doing ninjutsu, and omg i was having a hard time trying to adjust. have any of you been in my shoes? how do you over come it?
how do you learn something new without losing what you have learned?

Generally speaking one spends their entire life mastering just one martial art.

You may become proficient in a few martial arts, but generally you only master one.

That being said, I started studying Kodokan Judo, Goju Ryu Karate, and Hakko Ryu Jiu jitsu and after about six years of training I deemphasized my Karate to emphasize my Judo and Jiu-jitsu.

Even Bruce Lee emphasized Wing Chun kung fu before studying several other styles and creating his mixed martial art of Jeet Kune Do.

I have black belts in Judo, Karate, and Jiu-jitsu. And I have high kyu ratings in: Uechi Ryu Karate, Shotokan, Tae Kwon Do, Kendo, Kodokwan Jiu-Jitsu, and Aikido.

And yes there is a lot of gear shifting when you switch from one style to another. But that is natural. It even happens to the Japanese and Chinese as they try to master several styles of combat.

It is even worse when you shift from a Japanese style to an Okinawan style to a Korean style to a Chinese style.

So stick with two or three styles at the most. Master one and become proficient in two others and you’ve come a long way.

And I guess I should mention that I am not in the best of shape.
I’m serious!

Cardio and flexibility. Also, your senses. Close attention to detail especially in what the instructor is teaching you. Make your moves precise and crisp! But all in all, classes range from the no experience beginner to advanced students. You can start taking lessons just how you are and in time, your health, flexibility, etc will improve along with your skill level and technique. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Don’t be shy, just go for it!

On the comical side, you could watch Karate Kid…….Daniel-san. If you got time, start washing cars, sanding floors, and paint the fence. Then you’ll be ready to win a tournament.
