If you practiced karate for eight years, what belt would you be?
writing a book and the main character’s been practicing karate for about three years so about what belt would this person be? ![]()
That is very easy. It is your book, and it is obviously fiction. So you can give him/her any belt you like. In reality each student progresses at their own speed. Most can earn first black belt in 3-10 years.

Well If your going too a "Mc DoJo" then you’ll probably have paid for a belt after 8 years. But other than that it depends exactly on how skilled you are and now fast you learn.

There’s no way to tell. It would depend on the school, how strict the teacher is, what style of Karate, how quickly the Karateka learns, etc. He could be anywhere from a white belt to a black belt. Even though it should take at least four years to get a black belt.

Why in the world would some one author a book that requires information on something they have no idea about to begin with? There is no manner in telling what belt your main character would be because there are to many determining factors.
