I want to let …
I want to let everyone who is not experienced know tha the intent of this move is dangerous and foolish remember some people are benching and legging over 300 lbs if they use scapular postural and arm strength this could easily end up being a fatal contusion or concussion.

Yeh…America did this. That was just a dumb comment.

This will not work …
This will not work against jab.
It MAY work against non-trained person…. but not against amateur boxer.
It’s more to easy just to lean back or side, but it’s not so cool – no “chinese” motions at all….
Brady2k10
well done America …
well done America you’ve given some good martial arts a bad name in the name of entertainment and money give yourselves a pat on the back for up once again. retards.

since you lot …
since you lot OBVIOUSLY know so much about martial arts because you watch UFC and wanna be MMA fighters dont mean u gotta e disrespectful to Tai Chi. Its like Aikido now, people say it doesnt work, i say to those people go watch UFC then since its obvious you’ve come to that conclusion because some Aikido fighter has got into the octagon and lost. So you judge that one fight and say Aikido does not work, Aikido is a martail art, self defence. Not full contact fights retards.

That could actually …
That could actually work but not against a straight punch because thats to fast, but against a hook-punch that movement could actually work. However: its not smart to open yourself up to an opponent. There is a big risk he is going to punch more than once and if the first one doesnt hit you the second one will.

mack,
You said: ” …
mack,
You said: “This would work if your attacker was very drunk and slow, or if you were fighting on the Moon.”
What if my attacker was only half drunk and at medium speed? Also on the moon, all things would be as equal as they are here on Earth.
Does your martial art have something that Tai Chi does not?
Please share your knowledge, oh Enlightened One!

if you look at his …
if you look at his follow through, his put this legs behind his opponent and follows through knocking his opponent off balance. The attacker, no matter how strong he is, will not be able to counterattack if this is done properly. Tai Chi teaches that no matter how strong ur attacker is, when you knock him off his center of balance you gain the upper hand.

well all you need …
well all you need to do is step then step your right foot behind their right foot when you strike with the elbow.. and they should fall over.

thats too risky in …
thats too risky in a full speed fighting situation, wing chun would be better for that…
macktheknife888
This would work if …
This would work if your attacker was very drunk and slow, or if you were fighting on the Moon. But if your attacker was very strong with a lot of muscle to take the elbo in the chest, the attacker could find it very easy to headbutt you. It is also not a good idea to do this move if the attackers is a lot heavier than you. This move could very easely back fire on you if your attacker is a lot bigger than you…..

I agree with …
I agree with acupuncter and SelfDefenceExpert. You would not want to cut his punch off at the pectoral like that, especially if he has longer reach.
Not immediately defending the punch is begging to get struck.
Fan through back is usually an outside parry and palm strike simultaneously.

well i wasn’t using …
well i wasn’t using physical force. I was projecting my chi into his body. When he recovered he got mad as but he couldnt hit me because he was the aggressor, the attacker. So he tried to pepper spray me……….. I turned my head and bust out laughing.

You can call it …
You can call it what you want but this is not Taiji. This is not fan through from the back 扇 通 背
SelfDefenceExpert
Good application …
Good application but it would work better against a hock punch (round house punch). The moment Single Whip works better against a straight punch.

I hope you don’t go around senselessly beating up on police officers

I have used fan …
I have used fan through back on an officer. I touched him softly on the inside of the ribs and watched as he slowly crumbled to the ground.

I like this …
I like this technique, we have similar moves in kusanku and other kata. I tend to teach my students to respond this way to a hooking punch, for a straight punch such as this one I prefer to go to the outside.
