Martial Arts Myths: Ninjutsu, part 3

This is part 3. I go a bit more into the history of the art, specifically how it could have possibly survived into modern times, and what schools are likely to still be legitimately taught.

Part 4 is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWAOupEPR5I

you can find part 1 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMqtekE0A8s

you can find part 2 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMNCd13AqYE

Finally, at long last, I’m able to put this up. And it’s a doozy people… 40 minutes of me flapping my gums about Ninjutsu, and all the BS in it. And trust me, there’s a whole lot of it. That’s why it took me 40 minutes.

Of course, they’re all broken up into 4 parts. You can set aside some time for yourself, and watch all 4 at once, or you can just take your time and watch each part at your leisure. I’m not picky.

I’m pretty sure that because of these videos, all types of ninja wannabe kooks are gonna-come-a-knocking, all posting about how much I don’t know, or how they’re going to beat me up, or whatever. Please. No amount of grandstanding, fact dodging, or name calling will change things. The fact is, this information is out there for anyone to look up. And a lot of it doesn’t look good for you guys (fanatical wannabe Ninjas). You can act like idiots about it, or you can just accept things and move on. Of course, if there is something I’m genuinely wrong about, please let me know. Of course, I will look it up to make sure it’s correct, so no trying to BS me please… it’ll just be a waste of time.

Oh, and just to get this out of the way: I’m not saying there aren’t some legitimate Ninjutsu schools out there, nor are there not credible teachers. I’m well aware of the Bujinkan, and I’m sure the people associated with it can fight well. But amidst this one jewel, there’s a whole sea of mud. And the few jewels there aren’t as bright as you might think.

Anyways, enjoy guys. I certainly hope you guys DO enjoy it, after all the crap I had to go through just to get it done.

Oh, by the way… I have to thank the Bullshido.com website and forums for all their great work and information, without which this wouldn’t have been done. I did know a lot of this stuff already, but since I lost most of my old martial arts library, I’d have to do this from memory, and that’s an easy way to mess facts up. Bullshido.com had a lot of the info I needed in one place. Thanks guys.

    There are some …
There are some organizations well-known throughout Japan as having ninjutsu in their curriculum from my understanding: The Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu, Kashima Shin-ryu, Araki ryu, and many others. However, usually the requirements are that the student must be a high rank and must be living in Japan. So if anyone wants to claim ninjutsu lineage to any of these, you’d have to look at their credentials and see what rank they have and if they lived in Japan.

    that quote was …
that quote was lifted straight off of Wikipedia. Not that wiki is the ultimate source of things, but this guy didn’t just pull that definition out of nowhere.

    uh says who?

    uh says who?

    cite some source for that….

i dont understand what it is about people that makes them think they can change the definition of words as they please.

    A serial killer is …
A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people over a period of more than 30 days, with a ‘cooling off’ period between each murder, and whose motivation for killing is largely based on psychological gratification. Often, a sexual element is involved with the killings. The murders may have been attempted or completed in a similar fashion and the victims may have had something in common, for example occupation, race, appearance, gender, or age group.

    “Besides, I …
“Besides, I understand that Ninjutsu is not about fighting and killing”
then you dont understand ninjutsu…. like i said.. too much naruto.

if you can correct anything i have said… do it…

    Actually, I used to …
Actually, I used to watch naruto; but then it got boring and stupid. Besides, I understand that Ninjutsu is not about fighting and killing, it’s pretty much avoiding that at almost all times. I bet you know that too. Brutal efficiency: my point exactly.
I am wrong on a few things for sure, and I believe you are wrong on a few things, yet you don’t.
Let’s just stop arguing because this is going no where.
Gotta remember: “Fighting on youtube is like the special olympics: you’re still retarded.”

    “I’ve never met a …
“I’ve never met a person who’s been in the military that says they’ve liked killing.” this doesn’t make them any less of a killer, or serial killer.

“Ninjutsu (fighting) requires you to win at all costs right??” you watch too much naruto….
ninjutsu is about stealth… and brutal efficiency when violence is needed.

I am not from the …
I am not from the USA, I was born in England. I live in the USA.
Well, I was wrong, serial does mean series of something. I am sorry.
I know you didn’t say anything about the military. My example for someone who kills would be military because it happens all the time. I’ve never met a person who’s been in the military that says they’ve liked killing.
Ninjutsu (fighting) requires you to win at all costs right? That would require deviation from the patterns and use things outside of them.

    how can something …
how can something incorrect be common knowledge? oh wait… ur from the USA

not knowing a definition wouldnt be so bad if you weren’t arguing that your error is correct… and common knowledge to boot…

“a lot of people in the military don’t want to kill.” kind of dumb for them to be in the military then isnt it? i also never included the military/…just said anyone who has killed…

a little less ignorance please…. and pick up a dictionary…

  10. May 12, 2010

    SeijiiNakamaru

    Serial in serial …
Serial in serial killer doesn’t stand for series of something. Although some people would be fine with it, a lot of people in the military don’t want to kill. Calling them murderers is just rude.
Why do I have to cite that? It’s common knowledge!

    “Ninjutsu is a …
“Ninjutsu is a compilation of techniques and principles to be efficient” says who?

can you cite a source for all this nonsense? i will of course be looking into their authenticity…

as for your ignorance of the definition of serial killer…. here goes…
    if you kill someone… your a killer…
kill more than one… you have a series of kills… aka SERIAL KILLER….

what military in the world would be offended by being called killers? its their job…..

  12. May 12, 2010

    SeijiiNakamaru

    Well, you better …
Well, you better not tell that to the militaries of the world, I’m sure they’d be very mad that you just called all of them serial killers.
    1:52 /watch?v=sChS9Z5Ca_k
To be 100% efficient, you cannot bind yourself to certain techniques. Ninjutsu is a compilation of techniques and principles to be efficient; but it depends on the person who adds things to it that makes it 100%. Anyone who says ninjutsu is a set group of movements that won’t be changed is simply wrong. “Be like water,” ?

    “Serial Killers are …
“Serial Killers are not warriors,” no… really… never coulda figured that out….
i never said serial killers were warriors… read more carefully
if a warrior kills more than once.. he is a serial killer..

“Ninjutsu is also not a set style.” utter bollocks…. you cant seriously believe this crap…..
ninjutsu IS a SET STYLE…. saying to the contrary is absurd.

    Serial Killers are …
Serial Killers are not warriors, that’s why they are called Serial Kilers. They attack usually innocent people, so trying to learn from one might end up in your death.
Also, Bruce states very well in his book that he has not created a style of martial arts. He has created a philosophy that can be applied to martial arts and daily life.
Ninjutsu is also not a set style. Ninjutsu is the use of everything and anything to win a fight (when talking about the fighting aspects of it).

    “A serial killer …
“A serial killer would be the best person to teach you how to kill people, but that’s obviously dangerous.” a warrior of any standing has usually killed multiple people….. to imply this makes them dangerous to normal society is a little bit of a stretch if you ask me…
“Ninjutsu is practically the same as Jeet Kuen Do ” ” Technically speaking then, choson would be teaching both.” no….
    ninjutsu is ninjutsu…
trying to apply lee’s feeling on his style doesnt change that…

  16. May 12, 2010

    SeijiiNakamaru

    Yes, I know that …
Yes, I know that you should be able to trust your teacher, but sometimes you can’t. A serial killer would be the best person to teach you how to kill people, but that’s obviously dangerous.
The kids might have misunderstood something (which happens a lot when learning from videos) – One of choson’s students is a police officer and she seems to be doing fine.
Ninjutsu is practically the same as Jeet Kuen Do if you look at the principles. Technically speaking then, choson would be teaching both.

  17. May 12, 2010

    Creationsofmyown

    you misunderstand …
    you misunderstand the point then…
it is an abuse of the relationship… a student should be able to trust their teacher….
how many kids have to get hurt because they tried to defend themselves with something that choson taught them,..

now dont get me wrong… choson does know TKD and hapkido… but teaching them in a black outfit DOES NOT make them ninjutsu.
there is also the issue of completely fabricated history……

    Go test it with …
Go test it with your friends, I don’t expect you to go out to a bar and try to beat up some drunkards with it.
Say bruce lee taught the same thing choson teaches. Everyone would flock to him just because he’s bruce lee. People have a mindset that it’s the instructor which is most important when learning something. The student is the most important: You can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.
I understand a lot of choson’s techniques are worthless, but not all of them.

    “Then test it to …
“Then test it to see if it isn’t stupid- most of the time it will work. ” i dont rely on things that may or may not work….
one in particular is the 60 ft shuriken throw…. total fake there are multiple videos from a lot of serious martial artists that debunk that crap…. to say he has great skill is an insult to all practitioners of honest martial arts.

    SeijiiNakamaru

    I understand that …
I understand that he is a liar and plagiarizes, but that doesn’t mean he has poor physical ability. You can’t discard someone’s skill because of their personality.
Ashida Kim – Worse than choson, but some of his skills are actually useful. It doesn’t matter whether or not the two think straight, if they’re willing to teach you something, then learn it. Then test it to see if it isn’t stupid- most of the time it will work.

    are you …
are you serious? chosonninja is a fraud…
he lies, plagiarizes videos. makes up history, hangs his own countries flag upside down ( which is a sign meaning you need help) not to mention all of the stuff that he has faked to make it appear he has skill…
check out scottbaioisdead here on youtube… he regularly debunks all of greg parks bullshido.

    Ninjutsu came …
Ninjutsu came earlier than Jujutsu. Kobudo was first then Aiki-jutsu was formed by Samurai and then developed into Aikido. Taijutsu was also used by Samurai as it is a teaching in Kobudo.

Not everything they show in Bullshido is Bullshido. Sometimes, they hide the real stuff to prove MMA superior over Trad MA.

    Obvious Fake: Ashida Kim

He claims to be taught by a secret Ninja clan and never met Hatsumi or Tanemura.

    Koga is broken.

    Koga is broken.
Iga is transmitted to Takamtsu Toshitsugu (Hisatsugu) then to Hatsumi Masaaki and Tanemura “Shoto” Tsunehisa. Part of the Iga lineage was transmitted to Unsui Manaka until he broke from Bujinkan.

Gyokushin Ryu means “Jeweled Heart School”. It is a Ninpo school. There could be a possibility of having the same name as a Jujutsu school but some Jujutsu schools incorporate teachings of Gyokushin Ryu. Since Jujutsu, has ground and throwing styles, Gyokushin Ryu can provide Sutemi.
