Here are basic exercises to train the body to release excessive tension and anxieties from impacting hard surfaces. This translates into better strike absorption and diffusion capabilities. The goal is to engage the ground softly and quietly as if folding a silk sheet over the ground. Not rolling in any specific shapes but uncovering a way to make the body a &#8220;mat&#8221; while accepting the ground should stay hard.  It helps to enjoy and prolong the inverted (upside down) position while exhaling uninterruptedly  to overcome the dreaded fear of impact. Warning: Do not practice this without a qualified instructor!</p>
<p>Interesting point, though they are numerous high ranking black belts of Judo/Aikido/BJJ/Kung Fu/Tai Chi in attendance, only those who successfully emptied their cups of previous rolling habits fared well against the marble surface.</p>
<p>The kicks added a measure of distraction/stress to erode the physical and psychological confidence of the attacker. The attacker must give a committed kick while retaining his freedom to engage the ground in a supple and functional way. By class end, everyone moved freely with less restriction, more calm and no trauma.</p>
<p>Dedicated perseverance triumphs over fear, doubt and self-inhibiting beliefs. Bravo guys &amp; gals!</p>
