Martial Arts Workout

This is the debut video blog supplemental for Everything Martial Arts and Me ( http://thewayofseanpatrick.blogspot.com ).

I am “self-taught” on the guitar. I used videos, books, and the internet to teach myself how to play the guitar. I use that experience as a metaphor for learning a martial art.

In the Martial Arts world there continues to exist a small sect that believes it is possible to teach yourself a martial art style through books, videos, and the internet. Unethical martial artists around the world use this misconception to sell products and make money off the ignorant. You cannot learn martial art without a teacher. Period. End of question. Ask any master of any martial art style or MMA gym and you’ll get the same answer… unless… they’re trying to sell you something.

Supplemental training materials (books, videos, etc) are only useful as supplements to training under a qualified teacher.

This book is massive! It covers my back story , and how I got in the martial arts, my struggles with health problems, commentaries on religion, racism, MMA, nutrition, injuries, and how martial arts relates to all of these things. If your a fan of martial arts, and you loved Bruce Lee’s books, or your a fan of the “Jeet Kune Do” mentality, I think you will enjoy this publication. Its not a “dry” history book…this book is raw, honest, and personal. Wing chun, xingyiquan, muay thai, MMA, wrestling, tai chi, everyone can benefit from this book!

I would be honored if my martial art brothers and sisters would check out this book.
