What style of martial arts suits younger women?

Did that make any sense? I guess I’m thinking along the lines of a martial arts style that doesn’t focus on mere strength (more "guy-suitable, if you will) but utilizes the "strengths of women." (BQ:What would those strengths be, per se?)

I did tae kwon do for more than seven years and i am answering this question because i am a woman ( of course). I think tae kwon do is a great martial art form for women because it is more a game of strategy and quickness in fighting than it is in strength and power. Many women love this sport it is not just me. Us women have the brain power to kick butt in this martial arts especially if your flexible that helps a lot for forms because judges score you on how beautiful your movements are and how easily you can kick.

I would say Tai Kwon Do. Typically they do allot of "fancy" kicks and you can use speed and flexibility to your advantage. You also spar with other women and women in your weight class at tournaments. I like Kung Fu allot too but find it more difficult and complicated so you should be really devoted to do that.

the style is Not depend upon your body type,, age, weight or height.

people that tell you it is, know little about martial arts, or people that say this style is better then that dont understand about the diffrent styles

what matters is how good the instructor is and how you train. all styles have there pro’s and con’s, there is no perfect style.

  3. i would say it is between kickboxing, Karate and Tae-Kwon-Do. Tae kwon do has a lot of cardio strength traing and also mental trainig it’s also good if you want to get into competitions. Karate is very good for mental training and it suits a girl because it’s not about using your muscle like in boxing it’s all about using technique and nobody wants to pick on a karate blak belt because the self defence in there is deadly and useful for the rest of your life. Kickboxing has a lot of cardio dynamic kicking like tae kwon do. and also strength training self defence is included. I hope this helped! good luck! :D

  5. Jiu Jitsu/Jujitsu and Judo as you never have to use too much power and aggression and strength. You move accordingly to the other person’s weight and force.

  6. I would suggest either Judo or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or both!

Both these martial arts are based on a smaller , less strong person leverage the force of a larger and more powerful person against themselves

Both are ideal for women to learn and I recommend that all women should know some form of martial arts in this day and age.

  7. it doesnt matter what style you take, the instructor is the key to it all. almost all styles use your own natural strengthes.

  9. Any Martial Art would be more beneficial than none at all. This really depends on what is in your area and the instructor. We can name a hundred forms of Martial Arts but if you live in a town that only offers 1, then you don’t have much choice. You need to look around in your area, call and get a price quote, visit the place watch or join in a free class (if they don’t let you take a free class they only want your money… leave!!) and talk to some students, other women perhaps and see what they think or how they like it.
If you forced me to make a choice I would go with brazilian jiu jitsu. The only reason I say that is because there are a fair share of women at the academy I go to, they all seem to really like it (again depends on the instructor) and if a women is being sexuality assaulted I think she would be better capable of defending herself on the ground. Just my opinion!! Best of luck.

  10. I would recommend Wing Chun.

As a woman, I would say we are more flexible, somewhat quicker than most guy’s and our biggest asset is our brains.

Guy’s are stronger and larger… usually slower, and often think with their sexual organs… not their brains.

    BJJ

I believe it is one of the most practical martial arts for women to learn. You will not be so vulnerable on your back if you are being sexually assaulted, furthermore it is a style that utilizes leverage and favors technique over brute strength.

do some research and if you can, find a suitable gym
